“Too Much Information” – Manufacturing Company Ditches Sluggish SAN

When we hear the acronym “TMI,” the first thing that comes to mind is probably “too much information.”  Coincidentally, this is a real-world problem that many businesses in this day and age are beginning to face.

Such was the case with TMI Manufacturing, headquartered in Dickinson, North Dakota.  Their iSCSI SAN was outdated, slow, and expensive, so to stay ahead of the curve, they wanted to invest for the future with commoditized, hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI).

“It was like night and day” said Shane Yoder, Infrastructure, and Administrative Services Manager for TMI Manufacturing, “We no longer faced the sluggish response times with our database applications, and backups were really fast.”

“In addition, we found that offerings from industry-leading hyper-converged manufacturers were nearly double the cost of a DataON solution and they didn’t even support 40GbE and all-flash NVMe SSD storage,” said Yoder.

By migrating to a Windows Server Software Defined (WSSD) certified Storage Spaces Direct with DataON solution, TMI Manufacturing was able to increase I/O per second (IOPS) by 800% and reduce latency to under 1 millisecond delay during peak traffic.  Read more about how TMI Manufacturing made the “Microsoft Choice” and selected DataON as their preferred solution provider.
